Hi All, this information for UK people with one form of diabetes.

At the moment Abott diabetes care UK is running a free trail of freestyle libre 2 sensor. If anyboy interested please Google it

By the way until now I'm not connected to abbott any way or form and I don't get any benefit from them

Just one advice. I followed their instructions and ordered a free trial after few days later I log into my account and found out that the status of the order is cancelled. Then I called and explained to the customer service guy and he reorded it for me. So after few days of order please log into your account and check the status.

In this occasion the support was bloody brilliant. If you like to continue and buy the next sensor, please be patient and receive the free sensor first then you can order more sensor(s).

I thought I better let you know.

I managed to get one, its been on for 10 days now, highly reccomended. You can clealy see what give you spikes and change what you eat.
Also look at Jessie Inchauspé, but be carefull, you still need to limit the carbs because you will see with a CGM, you can still get spikes even with her method, and legthened spells of medium high levels but you can figure out with a CGM what you can eat and what you can't.
I found out that even using her method, brown bread cheese sandwich spiked (10.5) and stayed there for 3 hours.

Hi I took part in the free trial and have brought my A1C down from 8.6 to 6.9 in two months - however as I am type 2 Diabetis and have so far declined any medication ( metformin and Sitigliptin did not agree with me at all !) I don't qualify to have the sensors via prescription so I am having to pay for them myself which is around £90.00 per month for the Freestyle 2. This is quite expensive for me as I am a pensioner now. However I have seen Freestylelibre 3 advertised for £74.00 for 3 sensors. So my question is can I move to Freestyle 3 and not loose my data from the Freestyle 2 app ( hope that makes sense)

Kind regards
Ann

If you telephone Abbott Laboratories Ltd on 0800 170 1177, they will be able to answer your question.

Well done, for reducing your glucose readings! That will make purchasing Libre sensors worth every penny.

Hi Ann

Libre 3 is not currently available directly from Abbott. The Libre 2 (14 day) and Libre 2 Plus (15 day) are available online from Abbott. The cost of the Libre 3 can be quite expensive, so I suspect the cost you saw was £74 for only one Libre 3 sensor, not 3. The Libre 2 Plus is the latest version which has a 15 day duration. The cheapest CGM at the moment is the Dexcom One+ for £79 per month or £229 for 3 months.
