Freestyle libre 2, EMFs, solution needed

I really need some help and/or guidance.

I’m a type 1 brittle diabetic in the UK. I’m current using the freestyle libre 1 sensor. I have just been informed that the libre 1 is being discontinued and being replaced by libre 2 in a few months. The new sensor sends beeps of EMF frequencies every minute to support the new automated alarm system - to connect to your phone app or new reader. I’m very very EMF sensitive and have strong reactions to these frequencies. I have to have wired internet and use no WiFi at home for example. One of the things that happens is that my cells become really insulin resistant being in contact with these EMF frequencies (my diabetes goes all over the place) so using a sensor that then makes my diabetes worse is not an option. The sensor libre 1 previously had completely transformed my diabetes and life.

Does anyone have similar issues? Do you know anyone that can help or guide me? I’d obviously like to continue using a system, I don’t mind which system, to monitor my readings. The brilliant thing with the first libre was that it helped me predict my readings (it doesn’t send constant beeps of wireless frequencies) and nighttime’s have become far easier. I’m really concerned about having to return to a very erratic diabetes which the libre 1 solved - which prior to the libre 1 left me regularly very unwell.

I’d be very grateful for any guidance,
Phillip

Welcome to the forums @phillipneilmartin How are you with bluetooth? I don't know about the libre 2, but the dexcom communicates every 5 minutes with bluetooth... Mine works if i have my phone in flight mode as long as bluetooth is on.

Libre 2 works also with a Libre 2 reader. I requested a Libre 2 reader from Abbott and they sent me one.

Regardless of whether you use a reader or a phone, Libre uses Bluetooth for alerts just as Dexcom uses Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is a low level EMF.
On the other hand, so is NFC which is used for scanning a Libre 1 (and 2) albeit not every 5 minutes or so which is what is used for Libre 2 alarms and Dexcom (and all other CGMs),

Thank you so very much. Yes, I requested a libre 2 reader but the problem I have is with the sensors... Bluetooth is bad for me.

The NFC works better for me as it has a small range, just a few inches. It is more like a RFID rail card or ID card that you scan. It doesn't constantly scan, it only scans when it connects via an ID in the reader. If the sensor is on a timed scan, every minute to send data/alerts, using something like bluetooth (or even NFC very regularly), and you can't adjust the sensor (or the bluetooth) then it isn't usable for me. It means I can't get alarms but still get the other benefits. It is constantly pulsing EMF, even if a phone or reader isn't collecting the data.

Thank you for letting me know about Dexcom,

Do you know if the libre 2 has the ability to be adjusted to turn off the regular scanning or bluetooth?
