FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

It's been about 36 hours. So still more out and random than I would expect

@Emmotha - the one I'm using was a long way out for the first few days (not as much as your's, but 2 - 2.5 out a lot of the time) and then it suddenly stopped itching, settled down and has probably been the most accurate sensor I've ever used. Not sure how much longer it's going to survive, though because it's lifting badly and has a week to go - I think it's sitting there silently eating my arm and my body is doing a great job of rejecting it :-(

Just got the email inviting me to place my order and have duly done so! Excited for it to arrive. How long does the shipping usually take?

Thanks. Another question I had was about showering - I know it's supposed to be water proof etc. but has anyone had any problems and is it wise to try to cover it with a bag or something? I shower 2 (and sometimes if I have gym at lunch time) 3 times a day so I'm a bit worried it will affect the adhesion after a few days...

I wallow in the shower everyday. Never had any problems with adhesion, in fact I usually find them difficult to remove after 14 days. Others might have different experiences. It might be worth getting some Opsite tape, just in case.

I use Opsite over the top of mine to protect it from the daily shower etc. You can also get Opsite on prescription.

Hi guys,

Just got my link, website was down immediately, loads of errors.

Took four attempts to raise an order, but got there in the end! Phoneline engaged for 30 mins haha.

Woop woop, as the kids say!

Had no issues with showering with the sensor. No need to cover it. I've been showering couple of times a day.

The adhesive is typically very, very sticky and it's hard to remove after 14 days.

Wedbsite wont work for me looks like the CSS ISnt Loading... cant place an order with the link they gave me

When they first released the Libre, many of us had errors with the website until we logged in - if you haven't done this, try logging in before putting any items into your basket.

I do cover mine with a bag when showering - avoiding getting it wet seems to ease the skin irritation that the sensor causes me. Most of mine have stuck pretty firmly, but the current one was lifting from about day 5. It lifted so badly on day 7 that I could see the probe in my skin. I've now got a piece of Opsite covering it and that seems to be holding it firmly. I think the adhesion issues are probably due to using Cavillon skin barrier under it to try to stop the skin irritation rather than anything to do with the adhesive of the Libre though.

Anyone know why they're drip dripping the release of these? Just seems utterly bizarre when people want them.

I don't suppose I can complain I only registered my interest a couple of months ago but I was told there would be a full release in march:(

A warning for customers (at least in the Netherlands): Do not pay by IDeal, your money will be transfered but the order will NOT proceed nor be confirmed. Abbot also recommands not to use the Ideal option anymore..

I really hope they will fix the option, since IDeal is really easy and I prefer direct payments instead of credit card payments..

Unable to keep up with demand.

Yes it took four attempts for me and I have to change browser, it did work eventually but wasn't easy.

Without sounding corny its the freedom it can give you. I find it invaluable during my long distance cycling as I am able to check without stopping. I also don't have the issues of contaminated, cold, wet fingers to deal with. Its also shown the effects of the exercise in the following 24 hours and helped with adjusting doses to deal with this. The main warning would be that you may find it addictive and a starter pack will not be enough.

Hey Andy P,

I'm soo with you on the whole long distance cycling as a type I, I'm awaiting my starter pack mainly to enable me to see what my readings are 'real time' whilst out running (training for London Marathon) (switched from cycling to running post baby) and the ability to 'scan' as I run with out the stoppage or faff of getting all the fiddly bits out will be in a word, amazing. I'm hoping it'll live up to my expectations

How embarrassing... The nice folks at Abbott sent me a new Libre reader because my current reader stopped responding to test strips. They also sent me the usual prepaid bits to return the old reader in. I can't change to the new reader until my current sensor runs out.

Anyway... this evening I put a strip in the old reader and still no good - it then occurs to me to blow into the strip slot in case there was some fluff and now the strip reader has started to work again. Probably fluff from jacket pocket - why can't they give us a case with the reader? They do with all their other meters.
