FREESTYLE LIBRE ON SALE!!!!

Thanks @robert72, how you found the stomach for convenience and reliability. Also, do they not recommend that you lay on the sensors.
I haven't tried my stomach. They don't mention about pressure from laying on sensors but several of us have seen this. I see that some also use top of thigh. I would be worried about catching the sensor with clothing, but I guess you're used to being aware of that with the Omnipod.

This is a known problem for all CGM sensors as well. Compression lows. Essentially, when you lie on the sensor, it seems to reduce the amount of interstitial; fluid available to the sensor, resulting in low readings, and for CGMs, middle of the night alarms.

I do wear the Pod on my stomach but mainly to the sides, have tried it twice on the thighs and both times had terrible results.

Interesting that that a few of you have had a bad results from the pressure of laying on the sensor, I'll keep this in mind, but think for the first one I'll choose the arms.

Just seen your post @tim2000s, that is interesting and I wonder why they don't make this more widely known.

My first sensor just died of old age.

Amazing how quickly I adjusted to it, and how much I miss it.

Got mine yesterday and I love it!!! Easily the best technological change I've seen since I had diabetes.

I put another G4 sensor 32 days ago in my arm about 4 ins up from my elbow and only slightly on the side so that if I layer on my side in bed, the sensor wouldn't really come in contact with the mattress. I also played safe and put another pillow underneath me to reduce mattress contact. I haven't had loss of transmission or very low bg levels that a bg meter didn't also reveal.

Unpacked the Libre and was surprised that the Reader doesn't come with a wallet/case to protect it, are these available on the Abbott website?

Sadly not, but if you ask them for a free Freestyle Neo blood tester, the case that comes in fits the Libre

I have the Freestyle Optium Neo meter already as a spare, thanks for the tip Robert

Great - and you probably have some test strips which will fit the Libre too

I have around 7 or 8, are they always in the foil wrap in packs of 10 or can you order them in tubs of 50, I'll have to get some added to my repeat prescription.

Hello,

I got this recently and put it on yesterday, the point of me getting this is to see my trends and also give my fingers a rest. However I can't help but be anxious about the fact that my meter can be sometimes close but sometimes vastly different from the Libre meter, for example this morning upon waking up my libre was saying 17.6 but meter saying 13.9 (high I know for this moment) so i don't know whether to wait or? Because this would lead to different insulin doses etc

When you get out of a normal range, the Libre tends to read quite a bit higher than your blood, especially once your blood level gets above 13. You should always dose from blood test readings and not the libre in these cases.

Ah okay, more room for error im guessing if it's higher.

Has it been found to be fairly accurate otherwise?

I've been using Libre non stop since March/April and I can say with certainty that this is the case for me. As soon as I am around 9-10mmol or higher on fingerprick testing Libre seems to way overestimate and show readings at 13-15mmol with the upwards arrow. However, often after half an hour or so it seems to realise it's overshot and then corrects (i.e. I'll get a new lower reading and no arrows at all, which I think shows that's it's readjusting).
