Freestyle libre to help with pump???

Hi all.

Thinking of getting a freestyle libre to aid with blood glucose monitoring over the two week period to closely see what is going on.
I'm hoping it will help me to get my basal rate straight and help with my correction dose adjustments (seem to be going hypo regularly with the correction doses)
Just wondering if anyone else has used the libre flash monitoring system to aid with pump adjustments. Any pros and cons or anything to be aware of?

Thanks in advance xxx

I'd been using the Libre for about a year when I first got a pump. It made the transition very easy as I was able to identify that the starting basal level was just too high and was causing unnecessary drops.

As long as you understand that what it gives you is continuous recording that you have to work backwards from and don't expect real time alerts it's brilliant in terms of basal testing etc.

Hi Annie i have been diabetic for about 30 years and on a pump For 3 and a half, last month i changed my pump from Animas vibe without cgm to medtronic 640 without cgm, i researched the cgm s but found the cost to much but went for the freestyle libre , the first 24 hrs needed to settle down but the second day was giving very accurate results compared with my Bayer contour link glucose meter ,so i am now very confident to spend the day without pricking my fingers useing my glucose meter, the cost is much less which works out at 120 euros a month as i live in france ( about 95 pound ) , I do about 1 check per day with my Bayer meter just to see that alls ok, so i hope my experience with the libre will help you to decide .

I just got a libre but so far am finding it very unreliable in results and trends and abbot won't replace unless more than30% difference with their meter.

I have been on the libre since it started and love it. It has helped me identify so many patterns and see how things effect my BG. I wouldn't be without it now. There is a Facebook group where you can ask lots of questions and get support. I insert a new sensor 24 hours or so before my old one runs out as this helps it settle and I find it pretty accurate from the moment it starts. My clinic does trials on it so worth checking if yours does before you splash out :)

I don't know where you've got 30% difference from but in the 18 months that I've used it they've always said 15%. Sounds like you got a dufus on the phone.

Yup. But have now got 60% variance readings so they agreed to replaceso no need for me to start on the fact that 30% is nowhere in their terms and conditions.
