Freestyle Lite Meter Recall???

I had a call from the diabetic nurse today who said I had to send my Freestyle Lite meter back to Abbot as it was inaccurate

I wondered if anyone had heard anything about this as I have been using it for 4 years

How inaccurate is it I wonder? My HBAIc is tested twice a year and a few months ago was 6 and I'm trying hard to bring it down again to 5. something
by not drinking alcohol (I hardly drank at all before just a little wine occasionally so don't miss it at all) and being very careful with food etc

We also use the testing liquid

Nothing on Abbott site and there are millions of diabetics in UK so someone should hear something about a recall?

Just telephoned Abbott and its Freestyle and Freestyle Mini - the nurse was wrong - being recalled and they are emailing them

The nurse says don't test etc because they hate paying for test strips but I like to test from time to time and at 77 if I have to pay for strips then so be it we have to look after ourselves

thanks Kate

I googled recall Freestyle and it came up with several recalls of meters and testing strips in recent weeks by Abbott - so it might be worth a look
