I received this email from Abbott today regarding the next version of the Navigator. I am considering going down the CGM route, but it would be self funded so need to decide carefully. I wonder if they would offer a trial.

The FreeStyle Navigator Continuous Glucose Monitoring System can only be purchased from Abbott Diabetes Care and will be available from August 2013.


The System Kit, (reusable wireless transmitter and receiver, changeable silicones skins, charging cable and user guide) is priced at £950.
Sensors, which can be used for up to 5 days, are priced at £240 for a box of six 6.

In addition, we will provide free of charge download software, so that you can review your data on your computer, and a telephone training session
with one of our expert trainers.

Unfortunately the Freestyle Navigator Meter and sensors are not covered by NHS prescription.

There are better cgm's.. Onky from my experience of using Abbotts. Others may think they are brilliant.. I certainly wouldnt fund a Navigator myself...i no longer use it...
