Frequent traveller with pump

Hi, I need to travel quite a lot with work (ca. 8 trips a year) -- I use a Medtrum Nano (patch pump) at the moment, and I have a spare base unit so that I don't need to keep requesting a holiday loan pump. However, I'm switching over to the YpsoPump next month, and I'm not expecting to be able to replicate my current set-up. I'm interested in what other regular travellers do? Just fall back to MDI if needed? Request holiday loans multiple times a year? If anyone has advice, I would be very grateful.
 
I must admit, in all the years since I've been using an insulin pump, I've never requested a loan pump to take with me I personally find it'd be more hassle than it's worth. Whenever I travel, I take the stuff for MDI, I've never had to use it, though. I suppose really it's up to you and what you'd prefer. If your trips aren't very long, I'd personally just fall back onto MDI and sort a replacement pump when I'm back home.
 
I've only had a pump for 18 months but have done quite a bit of traveling in that time. Never even heard of a holiday loan pump so I just take lots of spare consumables and MDI kit. I have had issues with sensors and glucometers, so I now carry twice as many sensors as I think I'll need and a spare glucometer....
 
Perhaps I'm just unlucky or perhaps my pumps are a bit fragile but I've had two base failures over the years so i’ve been very relieved to have a spare with me.
