FRESH ORANGE JUICE

I love a freshly squeezed orange, is this OK to have? I know the carton stuff isn't.
Fresh orange juice has the same amount of sugar and carbs as carton stuff.
I'm afraid chances are it will spike you just as high.

I absolutely love fresh orange juice but I gave my orange juicer to a friend.

I gave up orange juice along with softdrinks when diagnosed … though I love it so. Though I do use it on occassion as an effective hypo treatment …. Unfortunately only need a small amount.

There's one way to find out. Get a blood testing meter and test before and after you have an orange's worth of juice. Maybe if it's only one orange your personal metabolism will be OK?????

Try fresh lemon or lime juice or both together.Water added and a little artificial sweetener. They are acidic fruits but I thinks they turn into alkaline ash in the body.

As already suggested, the only way to find out how you react to it, is use a meter to check.

Pre T2 diagnosis, orange juice was my go to drink almost every morning - and then actually the very first thing I was advised (aka told) NOT to drink at all by both my GP and DN. :banghead:

But I do now occasionally use a whole fresh orange in cooking - e.g. rhubarb with butter, ginger, and orange and similarly cranberries, spices and orange . And because I get 4-5 servings out of one batch, a little orange goes a long way :hungry:

I'd go with the test & try too .

However I suspect it will show you're just mainlining glucose ...

Have read that IF you are going to the fruit (pick your fav ) have it as god intended, that way You get the fibre from one orange as well as the juice of one orange.

Pretty sure the glasses of orange / apple juice I used to have pre DX most definitely had more then a few of the fruits squeezed into it

Yes - I try to get the most out of my oranges, so it involves zest, mainly juice and what flesh I can "rescue" after squeezing...

I hate to be the bringer of bad news. I used to love the stuff.. was given it as a kid because it was “natural sugar??!!!”
Lol, then they wondered why my pee tests were in the “orange zone.” Yarp, the fructose put me there..

Try using your meter. It might be a revelation..
