Insulin becomes ineffective after freezing. You should get some replacements.I understand novomix 30 should not be frozen . Owing to a faulty fridge I believe some of the pens the drug comes in may have been frozen and thawed. Whats bad about that?
Thanks , I've had poor blood sugar results after some years of good control . Recently have had a referral to a dedicated diabetes team over this.looking for a cause .Will discard pens stored and get a new batch. Novartis and my pharmacist were no help.Insulin becomes ineffective after freezing. You should get some replacements.
Whilst in use the pens/cartridges do not need to be stored in a fridge, but when storing and not in use you should keep them in the fridge as it extends their life past that 30 days - means you can have spares - just in case and so uyou never have to cut it too close for getting the next ones. Thanks to all. Somewhere I read that we do not have to keep the insulin in the refrigerator. And it can stay under 30 degrees (room temperature) and it would still be good for up to 30 days. Can anyone confirm this? Novomix 30.
