Fruit - blueberries

I was just about to eat the dessert in my OMAD. This thread made me count the blueberries on my plate. There are 12, which I calculate to be around 2.8 grams of carbs. I am going to re-evaluate this choice, as I can have more raspberries. Doesn't look like much for 2.8 grams:

Very nice. I think part of the reason blueberries are used a lot is that they make a nice culinary display. That’s not to say raspberries don’t but blueberries do enhance a photo containing a food.
 
A bit of digging has thrown up a few studies that show berries (which included blueberries) may help help cells be less insulin resistant and also have anti inflammatory properties - along with various non diabetes related claims for arteries and fibre etc. Now I’m not sure about the accuracy of these claims but at least it explains a bit of why they may be recommended despite not actually being the lowest carb fruit. Magic properties that help diabetics that an apple doesn’t have. Eg “polyphenols may influence carbohydrate digestion and absorption and thereby postprandial glycaemia”
