...and enjoy eating all of them, in small quantities. This morning I picked a ripe fig, and ate it, warm from the tree. Out of curiosity, I tested my BGL after an hour - normally between 4-6 ish, and it was 10. I am in shock. Eating ripe figs off the tree ( if one can get them before the birds do) is one of life's little pleasures. Now I feel as though I am foraging through a minefield. Although I do not eat the berry jams I make, others in the family enjoy them. Now I wonder how much harm I may be doing.
I wish WI was conducive to avocado trees. That would be heaven on earth

So jealous! Heaven !!! Not sure what it is about those b****rs but I can treat enough. You would have liked my grandmother's farm in Jamaica. Whenever we visited in the 70s and 80s, my mum would get a big pole and knock about 5 avocados down to eat that day!
I’d have to say YES!! And nutritional powerhousesHmm.. Is it possible to have an avocado addiction? But you've reminded me I forget to get some today. I did get a pile of radishes to snack on though
I do that ALL the time tomthe point I want to cry and think ‘ what’s wrong with me. ‘ I loveD all fruit but a perfect apple or tart cherries were on the top of my list. Done with that of courseI too miss fruit - in my case it is pears (my one weakness). I found eliminating breads, (except the occasional Lidl roll), buns, starches, and such-like quite painless, but eliminating pears is a constant battle. If anyone had seen me in Asda today they might have thought I was some kind of mad-woman. Definitely indecisive! I stood for ages pondering over a bag of smallish pears, picked them up, debated pros and cons, then put them back - 3 times - before I was able to force myself to walk away - sans pears!
Now I have to deal with my "beggar, wish I'd bought 'em" over the next few days ........
Pears don't put up my bs too much, if eaten with cream and/or yoghurt, but at 11g carbs, they increase my overall carbs for that day beyond my limit.

I dont bother either until our strawberry fesival. Strawberry brars shortcakes, smoothies , coffees and on and on. One choco strawberry split with hubs fits the bill. DoneIn the early days, I tested everything and found that an Apple spikes me but I can eat copious amounts of pineapple with not much of a blip.
The odd thing is that I was never really a fruit eater and I must have eaten more fruit in the first few months than I did in the previous few years. I don’t bother now apart from the odd berry occasionally.
Yup. Scoop of avo always helps. And good to bs. I just get angry sometimes. And frustrated. Crying I’ve ran Apple? Shouldn’t be this hard.Know the feeling - sad, isn't it. Glad you managed to subdue your demons; as you see, I'm still fighting mine. Though of course we do have the lovely avos to compensate.
