I read somewhere on Google that they taste like duck.A friend of mine currently has guinea-pigs to test their taste. If they taste good he plans to breed them.

Bet he tasted good. LolA friend of mine currently has guinea-pigs to test their taste. If they taste good he plans to breed them. He already does that with the rabbits and chickens, but that's considered more normal. And I must admit, I already ate my last rooster, he was an agressive a****e.
Except taste.
I think seeing food as “the enemy” is a pretty unhealthy attitude.
I eat vegetables much more than I eat fruit and berries much more than any other fruit. There are many fruits and some vegetables that I dont eat because the sugar spikes simply arent worth it
I read that eating fruit before a meal is better for your system and not afterwards. Just wondering what you all feel about it.
If I remember by the time they've grown big and fat and tasty, I'll let you know!I read somewhere on Google that they taste like duck.
Thank you for that. I had the skin prick allergy testing years ago. Egg white were low as well as raw sweet potato. All other suspects were fine. Who eats raw sweet potato? But I will say as soon as I eat a tiny amount of cooked sweet pot I’m comatos asleep for an hour and then groggy for more hours. I like the yolk better anyway but often used the white. As said, I’m ditching all egg for a bit. I used to make homemade mayo and for some reason stopped. Yup, felt horrible, legs and ankles swelled huge and exhausted so took them out for years. Then they came back as occasional. One a week maybe. Recently lots more. Did an egg fast for three days. Gained weight even though I was sick and not eating much of anything but eggs. Craved them. That’s never a good sign for me. I ‘ feel like’ something is fine but cravings are not. I’ll see how this goes and if the headaches stop. I ‘feel like’ salmon a lot now. Good replacement. I’m sure the little bits of Brie isn’t helping but one at a time. Don’t want to pass out like you. That’s nasty. At first I just eliminated a few suspect foods but felt awful after a few days andthought the theory was rubbbish, ate a normal meal and ended up unconcious on the floor with medics then questioning if I might be epileptic!
I was then referred to an asthma and allary researcch centre for formal teting
When I was first tested I had to exist on lamb rice and pears for 10 days, then introduce and test foods one at a time, alongside having skin prick tests as well. Some of the reactions were quite impressive - wheezing, projectile vomiting and a belly like I was 9 monthe pregnant were among them. My boyfriend of the time alsso told me the nurses / doctors on the team got quit excited by my skin prick tests with one of them running down the corridor exclaiming “ we’ve got an egg lady, we’ve got an egg lady” I had to take meds for several years and could then have most of the fods Id reacted to, but only every 3-4 days
The best bit about it all was that although I was eating way more calories than before, I lost 61/2 stone in 6 months all previous attempts to lose weight or even just to stop weight increasing having failed throughout my first 23 years of life
Thank you.If I remember by the time they've grown big and fat and tasty, I'll let you know!
Im ok with nuts thankfully. The main things I reacted to wereThank you for that. I had the skin prick allergy testing years ago. Egg white were low as well as raw sweet potato. How are you with nuts? I question those as well but are great to my bs for snacks. And on my melted Brie. Not sure which will be next. Brie or nuts. Both dairy and nuts have come in and out of my diet.
Wow that must be very challenging for you. You must be feeling better now that you know and can avoid the food that you react to.Im ok with nuts thankfully. The maan things I reacted to were
Eggs (whites and yolks), cows milk ( goat was better), nightshades, carrots, tea, coffee, sugar, white flour, white rice ( brown was ok), bananas, chicken, sweetcorn
It is best to eat fruit as part of a meal and not as a stand-alone snack. My nurse told me that, and I have subsequently read the same advice elsewhere. I don't suppose it matters whether it is before or after, although I have read it is best to eat protein as a starter.
This is an interesting one.
Eating fruit after a proper meal, with cream, is better for slow release and lower spikes to blood glucose.
But i have read (originally in The Hay Diet, but also seen in several other places) that fruit ‘should’ be eaten alone, or before meals. The reasoning for this is apparently because fruit is not digested in the stomach, so if it is eaten alone the fruit passes straight through the stomach to where it can be rapidly digested in the small intestine. Hence the quick sugar dump into the bloodstream.
By the same thinking, if fruit is eaten at the end of the meal, the digestion takes much longer, tagging along after protein and other foods are digested, which can lead to fermentation of the fruit, gas, and a restless tum. I guess this is for people who prefer rapid dumping of sugar into the bloodstream to flatulence!
I’ve never experienced this myself (but then i haven’t eaten large amounts of fruit in a v long time) but i do know that gut transit time can make a big difference to all sorts of things, from speed of glucose spikes to gut unrest, so i think it is a reasonable theory... depending on individual tolerances.
I felt the same way before I cut out allHi hotpepper
Yes it makes life interesting! I noticed last year that I was getting a lot of joint pains and a cnstant runny nose which I thought might be related to dairy and eggs having crept back in since Ive been low carb so I eliminated them alongside teaa and coffee in Early Nov and things are much improved. I have just reintroduced small amounts of organic butter and natural yogurt but need to limit them in both amount and frequency
Thank you for this, but am I right in saying that fruit will raise blood sugars quicker if taken alone before a meal, is fruit not passed quickly from blood stream on it's own or am so wrong?
Indeed. And remember, recent studies suggest that bacon and other "processed" meats are "bad" for you, resulting in increased risks for things like cancer.... Having said that, the risk from uncontrolled T2 diabetes is probably a lot worse than that, so sometimes you just have to learn what suits your own body the best and choose your poison accordingly.(Just please please please try not to smoke, as that's really bad for everyone, and much more so for diabetics.)
