I am a low carb diet. Is it fine to still eat the occassional piece of fruit say a kiwi?

These days I do - but I still count everything with carbs and so I do have days where I eat one thing with carbs and probably nothing more for 24 hours. (Book eleven, the Art of War Sun Tze - chose your battles. ;))

It depends. What's your aimed-for daily carb intake, how much fruit do you intend to eat, and what other carbs are you eating alongside the fruit?

For me the answer is no - I aim for 20g/day so the only fruit I eat is berries, and that very occasionally.

The only way to know for you personally is to test and see, everyone is different- many T2 on the forum report that they can’t cope with anything fruit wise apart from a few berries, I can cope with a bit of apple about 1/4 of one and a plum now and then but only as part of a meal such as apple in my fennel salad or plum with some yogurt or cream as a pud. Definitely can’t tolerate them on their own as a snack.

Kiwi are one of the lower carb though not low carb fruits- like I say test and see before first bite and 2 hrs after first bite and a rise under 2 points and under 8 - you may be lucky :)
