Frustrated after my recent visit to the diabetic nurse

Right.. I have had to moderate some posts and delete others in this thread.. lets keep it on track please.. health discussion is great but lets be a little careful about the language used.

Thanks Guys

Some people feel personally threatened by any suggestion that those in any kind of auhority are capable of giving incorrect or harmful advice. It makes them feel insecure and anxious.

It also causes insecuriy and anxiety when yoou follow advice , it does not work for you and he "auhorities" don't believe you and insist it is all your own fault.

This is not just rue of diabetes and its treatment but also applies to many other areas of life. While in some circulstances here must be rigid rules , somewhere, in most circulstances , there is rookm for consideation of anomalies and unforeseen events.

So much troble and misunderstanding could be avaoided if people could be seen as individuals. Failing to do so causes so many problems for T2s. I am quite puzzled as o why a condition which MUST be indoividual in many respecs as pancreatic function must vary agreat deal. T1s vary too. So why is it such a big deal and so difficult o understand hat one size will NEVER fit all?

I feel sorry for he HCPs who understand his but are not allowed to say so . They must find it highly frustrating and many of us have
been given "hints " by these dissidents.

The constant message here is o find something which works for you. Posters very helpfully say what has worked for them as a sort of guide or tip or suggesion for others.

Noone has all he answers for oher people -including the NHS. The sooner they admit that the better for everyone.

If people feel happier just doing as they re old and saisfied wih he results hen thats great. But do hose who re happy search out laces like this and challenge what others find works well for them?

I am eternally greatful for my training as an engineer. It taught me to always consider all the data before making a decision and to trust my own judgement over that of anyone supposedly in "authority".

Last May I gave a talk on my experience (summarised a few posts ago.) At the meeting Oct 30 this week the organiser told me he has reduced his carbs as a result of my talk & feels much better for it, & he has shown my talk to others. A number of youngsters have taken reduced carb on board & are slimmer & fitter, without significantly increasing exercise.

Would be good if a few other successful low-carbers could turn up and support you...

I wonder if there is a more national platform where one of us could make a presentation?

Yes it doesn't seem to ever occur that it's the message they are stating that doesn't work. It is so easy just to assume the patient is the one at fault. We've even had a retired doctor on this forum who came straight out and said his patients didn't try and then basically told other forum members they MUST be mistaken about the blood levels they were reporting back. It's those attitudes that need to be changed.

There may be a massive trend towards higher-fat diets in Sweden now. But it’s still controversial. The Swedish former boxer Paolo Roberto just published a cookbook filled with pasta recipes. When a reporter asked him if you don’t risk getting fat from eating pasta, and what Roberto thinks about LCHF, sparks fly:

[LCHF] is a method for lazy idiots, you lose weight without exercise…

Well to be fair, he wasn't much of a boxer.

Now this guy is a proper athlete:

They may well be based on old myths and misunderstandings but they are myths and misunderstanding that have been proved that high fat is bad for you. A whole country that has an obese problem is testament to that. The controversy is that there is not enough LONG term research for me to see what the long term effects are.

"a whole country that is obese is testement to that":
Here is a graph showing the consumption of macronutrients in the USA. As you can see, during the "obesity epidemic" the consumption of fat has stayed constant, and the consumption of carbohydrates has risen.

Or put another way:

Maybe you'd be so kind to provide some links to some meta-reviews that demonstrate that a high-fat diet "is bad for you".

Hi All.
This thread has been cleaned up by myself and returned.
As you will see I have heavily cleaned up various posts.
To bring things back on track...
Apologies to all who's posts got deleted in replies to the derailer.
It really would be far more productive to keep things positive here.

To label persons trolls/shills/idiots etc isnt acceptable.
All it achieves is more negativity and invokes retalliation...

Can we please keep to what the forum is really here for.
A positive support, assisting and helping others structure.

Anna.
