Visited GP this morning following a bad night with sickness and severe headache. After various checks, was prescribed anti sickness meds and co-codomal and told to go home and rest. I explained that my BG was very well controlled (thanks to strict LCHF) and noted I'd been getting abnormally high readings for the last 24hrs (in the 9s) and asked if this was a factor.

He jumped straight into asking why i was testing and said this was totally unnecessary and advised me to cease because it is the HBA1C that is the important one, and was happy because my previous result was in non diabetic range. That was in March! I'm not due for another test till December!

All a bit frustrating, even though T2 Diabetes is at epidemic proportions its a shame some HCPs are less than supportive of patient control.

In my experience, doctors don't have the knowledge or experience to give individual diagnosis and prognosis because they don't specialize, they are trained in general medicine, and their training unless they do study, invariably limits them to the usual nonsense advice that is slowly Changing but not fast enough to stop the epidemic!

I really can't wait to see the government's advice when it launches its policy on tackling the crisis within the NHS with the upsurge in T2!

Lol some Gp's are so dumb. It's the testing that has put your hba1c in the right zone, why can't they see it.
Yes the hba1c is the main test but if your not testing so you know what is bad for glucose level then we more than likely end up on insulin which then costs the Nhs more money & causes problems for the diabetic.

I have to be really sick before I go to th Dr for anything. I ring up to book myself in for my Hb test with the nurse every 6 months. I dont see the point making an appointment with the Dr as I know Im doing fine thanks to meter and it saves me $20.
