Frustration!

Perhaps this is just me, but there is NOTHING more frustrating than when your blood sugar meter reads 'error' when you either havent got quite enough blood on the strip or its just being weird!

Small thing I know but this really agrivates me at times. Especially when my sugars are low and I cant seem to get much blood out of my finger in the first place.... :x

Anyway, rant over!

Even worse when your on limited strips cause of you gawd darn GP, and you waste one because of Error!! grrrr!!

I'm lucky in the amount of strips I can get as always have enough to test 7 times a day and still have a unopened box week I'm due to ordering more but that's more down to signing up for pharmacy to ordering my meds bar insulin and they do it a week in advance.

Can remember when I started testing kept not getting enough blood and getting errors was so annoying.

Although they are excellent I would get this sometimes with the Accu-Chek meters, since changing to the Bayer Contour USB several months ago I've only had an 'ERROR' message once.

I use the TRUEone disposable little meters which come on the top of the pot of strips.
I dont get this being limited to blood testing strips malarky - I have never had any restrictions....is this not normal?!

get the Freestyle Lite. It needs the smallest drop of blood and it also allows you to "top up" the strip wihin a reasonable time.
Pus If anything goes wrong with it Abbott Diabetes Care who supply it will sort it out immediately [as fast as the post will go they exchange the thing.]

Unfortunately it is with some type 2's being refused test strips altogether and others being severely restricted, there's been quite a few type 1's also reporting that their gp's are trying to reduce the amount of strips they prescribe, my own gp practise tried this but I asked my consultant to intervene and explain why I need to test so many times a day.

Oh I see! My god, if I was restricted to a certain amount of strips I would probably go into panic mode. Thats terrible! :(

I get this sometimes too but the best way I find to make sure is to either wash hands under warm water or lower the hand you're going to test while raising our other hand above your head. Blood will flow down to your hand, you can actually see the difference in colour between them when you put them level again.
