Hi,
On antibiotics and low carbing for a few weeks now BG levels coming down but still trial and error stage. Anyway yesterday, I had a larger meal to try and slow weight loss down
5oz lamb small amount of onion and mushroom in sauce with little double cream. 200 g of cauliflower mash mashed with butter 3 large sprigs of broccoli and handful of Kale. BG before 5.3 1 hour after 6.8 After 8 mile bike ride down to 5.4 (1 hour after meal) then an hour later before bed back up to 6.4.

I always try to have a few nuts before bed as this seems usually to bring my fasting BG level down. I only had 4 half walnuts.

This morning my FBG was5.8. For breakfast I had just a tablespoon asparagus in sunflower oil in jar with one egg and 1 oz smoked salmon with a handful of spinach. 1 hour later it was 5.6.

These may well be okay and this is what sometimes happens but it would be helpful to have some advice please.
Thank you
52, T2 diet and exercise Ramipril 2.5(Penicillan 500mg 2x 4 times day but finished yesterday)

Sounds like you're doing really well. I'm not a type-2, but as a long-term type-1 those results sound pretty good. I've found that excercise can cause a temporary rise in my BS levels, for the rest of the day though, the excercise helps keep my levels a wee bit lower,I always keep the lucozade handy though!
I've tried the low carbing a bit lately, sometimes worry I'm eating too much fat, but have lost weight doing it.

Hi Bronte.

As a T2 your Bg levels should be in the region of these NICE Feb 2009 guidelines.

Fasting (waking) ..............between 4 - 7 mmol/l.
2 hrs after meals..............no more than 8.5 mmol/l.

Try testing 2 hrs after meals rather than always 1 hr. The numbers you quote are pretty impressive as janabelle says. You must be doing something right. :D
