I have posted about this before but im still struggling ,I have been doing some light gardening but I get tired very easy and my bs keep on dropping im on insulin twice a day 18 morning and 20 evening ive tried bannanas biscuits and lucosade before I do some gardening but nothing works .im seeing a specialist next month about an ongoing stomach problem since I found out I was type 2 last year any ideas please

Hi Susie,
What is the name of the insulin you take and how low is your bg dropping when you feel tired?
If knowing I am going gardening to remove bad weeds etc, I often reduce slightly my insulin dose I take prior in the day.
And I still bring a bottle of Lucosade with me in the garden. :)
Should be possible for you to get the bg balance right, so you still can enjoy your garden, so definitely something your specialist should be able to help you with.

Do you adjust your own insulin?

I garden all day as a living and I don't eat until my only meal of the day at 6pm.

I take it that you must be using a mixtard insulin with two injections a day?

Basically if you are needing to
Eat because your levels are dropping then you are having toouch insulin.

However I don't know what insulin you are on, when you garden, how strenuous it is etc..

Are you under a diabetic consultant at hospital or a gastroenteroligist?

You really need to take advice off your healthcare team. As without blood levels, times, foods etc it is very difficult to advise you.

I'm on a basal bolus regime so this is why I can go without eating as it is flexible...

On average when working about 30-75 carbs depending whether hubby has left some homemade pecan bite (this has good qtys of nuts and seeds in it with dates and coconut oil and walnuts, pecans, pistachio etc)- I put in to MFP and get about 1600 a day cals including exercise being taken off but if I'm short I allow more when not working to cover my lesser amount. Mind you the cals come from a glass of red wine in those instances!!
The biggest calorie hit is from the pecan bites..(i don't cut into square bite sizes, I have a big chunk of cake size portion!!). This excludes milk and I have at least a pint of milk daily too.
