Getting blood sugar even after low hypo

Last night around 1am I had a hypo that went to LO..
I overcorrected massively as I just wanted to go back to sleep.. Gave a few correction units to correct my correction so it wasn't a crazy high which I woke up to, but nevertheless it was high.
Gone hypo again today, and I was wondering what people do to make sure their hypos correct in a stable manner.

It's very easy to overcorrect, especially at night.

If I have a bad low, I tend to go for Lucozade because it works fastest for me. I then stay up and test every five minutes or so (Lucozade works in less than five minutes for me). Once I know my BS is at an acceptable level, I then think to try to identify what caused the hypo and whether I need some long-lasting carbs and if so how much. Eg if I realise my hypo was because I did too large a correction dose earlier in the evening, I think about how long that correction insulin will be working. If I drank alcohol then I have a little more to eat so the hypo doesnt happen again.

I don't know if that's much help. I completely get the wanting to go back to sleep and I tend to aim for a higher sugar after a hypo at night anyway. I use digestive biscuits as my long lasting carbs if needed as its easynto measure them in 5g carbs, 10g carbs, etc.

Whenever I hypo, I am now quite good at limiting myself to 20g carbs, and usually in the form of a 200ml carton of Orange Juice, and then withhold the temptation to have more. What I have found with the aid of CGM, is that upto 24 hours later, even despite correcting the hypo with carbs myself, my liver will dump and I will go even higher at some point. If I correct this, I halve whatever the "normal" insulin correction would be, simply because my liver reclaims the dump it has done, and so a full correction, will inevitably cause a hypo a few hours later.
My DSN was explaining to me recently, that this rebound yo-yoing appears to be worse, when a) the hypo occurs over night, and b) the longer you remain hypo before correcting.

I think that as a general rule 20g carbs will raise the average person 3-4 mmols, so I would check if that is a fair rule for yourself, and get something that is in that portion size, and store it. A fun size can of coke, a 200ml carton of Orange Juice or 4 jelly babies in a bag, is 1 ration, as opposed to guessing how many gulps you should have from a 2 litre bottle of pop! And have faith and patience.
