I would like to make a suggestion to pump manufacturers. I am a very new T2, and got myself a glucose meter yesterday, but after very bravely pricking my finger and getting a reading, I wiped my finger on my trousers, (well I am a bloke) and got told off!! So the next time I carefully got out my handkerchief an wiped it on that, well that was just as bad if not worse. So could I suggest that the pump manufactures ether put some tissues in the pack, or supply a warning to us heathens. :)

Do you thonk the NHS will pay for tissues to be supplied with meters? Are you kidding?
Isnt it obvious that whenyou prick your finger it bleeds?
Myself and others that I may test occasionally just lick!!
My friends boys call it a prick n lick!!!!

you lick it?

i just pat the nearest person to me on the back and say well done

licking is weird

and unused sperm is absorbeb back into the blood stream... think about that

Ewww I'm definitely not a licker! I'm a mega bleeder though, the stuff gushes from me. So I always have to carry tissues too

i just kinda wipe it away with my other finger and dont even notice it, but im not a gusher i just get a spot or a small bubble at best

So finger licking good it will be from now on, sounds good to me :) Thank you ;) The things you learn from this forum are endless !!!!!

Yes to licking:smile: One got a severe ticking off from a nurse for it but another nurse told me it stops bleeding faster if you lick it.

Didn't think about licking.
I use a cotton ball and rubbing alcohol before and after the test.

So wash hands, swab, test, swab again.

Licked it for 30 years and still looking good ! ;)

Starting on the slow road to looking after my self doing small steps so I can feel the benefits before moving on ;) x

Glad I'm not the only licker.

Tbh, I dont always wash hands before either!! If I'm gardening for my customers I try to wash as my dirt off as poss, but honestly couldnt guarantee finger is clean... In house if I'm doing something and need to test I won't always wash my mitts then...just depends if I've been sat down since last washing my hands.

I did get told off by Cgm company for not getting up to wash my hands at 3am in the morning when I used to test and compare to the cgm...even though I had washed and bathed before sleeping!!

Of course now I know I can get pregnant from finger testing.. I will have to change all my life upside down to accomodate this new revelation!!-LOL!!

Never had any probs in 30 years of licking after testing...

Incidentally do others get up and wash their hands if they have to do night-time (3am) testing or am I freaky?

I rarely wash my hands at all before testing! Only if they are particularly grubby which is not often

I definitely don't wash my hands at 3am, I barely even lift my head! If I'm going to bother to test in the middle of the night I don't want the inconvenience of having to wake up too ;) I acknowledge the reading and record in my phone then straight back to sleep, all while still horizontal. I've never had to treat anything during the night yet :)
