Hi tango.

As you say there is no obvious way to do this. As far as I am aware you have to contact the DVLA, Medical Section in writing and state your case, There doesn't appear to be any readily available forms to fill in either.

Best of luck in your quest.

Best of luck with this.

Hi,
I know that if you have had a LGV licence revoked due to a heart attack, or if you have had a "normal" licence revoked due to diabetes you have to apply through the court system to regain it and supply medical evidence in favour of your claim. I guess that the same system would apply to regaining your LGV entitlement after having it revoked because of diabetes. I believe that you have to wait at least 2 years after the prevous entitlement was revoked before re-applying (for a full car licence at least).
The good news seems to be that you are off of insulin and able to consider re-applying at all, well done to you! :)
Regards,

thanks for everyones views. im not off insulin yet but hope to be by the end of this month, so in the new year i should hopefully be able to persue this matter. However it looks like it will be long and drawn out (and probably costly) but im not reliant on my licence it would just be nice to get it back.

It says in your profile that you are a Type 1 so I assume that is wrong, if it isnt, how are you managing to come off insulin??????? :?

iv'e tried to explain it a bit on my posting about "CUSHINGS". But basicly the cushings syndrome was supressing my pancreas. I,m still on insulin, however 10 weeks ago i was on:

58 units Lantus
12 12 18 Novorapid
4x500 Metformin

I am now down to 14 units of Lantus and i havent had any Novorapid or Metformin for 10 weeks. Each time iv'e brought my lantus down by 6 units my levels havent altered so hopefully i will be able to come off the lantus altogether in a couple of weeks.

Oh OK, cheers for qualifying that Tango, good luck with your withdrawal then

For anyone else in this situation as apparently its a lot more common than i thought
i,ve just got off the phone with the DVLA and apparently all i have to do is fill out a form and produce a letter off my consultant and thats that. It doesn,t cost anything and i dont have to resit my test and there is no medical involved. :D

hi tango im glad you got it back. im type 2 on diet and exercise and petrified of losing my hgv license due to diabetes. because of this i am very strict. just reading your post shows that you can get better bgs and get your livelyhood back. in a way relieves the preasure a little bit not that its an excuse for me to open the jelly babies
