Gin and slimline tonic

I enjoy a gin and slimline tonic and have one about 6pm when making evening meal.on rare occasions a glass of wine with my meal
I take 1x 500mg Metformin after the meal.
The Metformin leaflet says avoid alcohol,am I doing wrong.

I'm on Metformin and like a drink now and then.
I don't drink very often but drank a bottle of red one evening a couple of weeks ago ... will again sometime.
