I'm getting close to taking nothing. But trying to keep focused. I'll give it a week see how it pans out.Hey @nessa1970 don't be so hard on yourself, looking at your BG readings you've made massive improvements and it's early days, good type 1 control takes a while to fall into place,. Your nurse may of told you about the honeymoon period and there is no time limit on how long that lasts, your requirements will increase over time that's inevitable but knowing how to respond and when is down to you. Have you thought about reading up more on this, not sure if it's been suggested to you but 'think like a pancreas' is a good one to read, the more you know the better you can respond to changes in your requirements. Also don't stress about your LDL reading, my last one was 4.6 no one jumped at me for this, so not too worried at all. Rant away !!

Thank you I will do this.Could it be too low fat? Carbs and protein will spike me higher Andy faster than if I have a decent amount of fat in the meal, like some avocado chunks an drew olive oil.
It has been discussed that many who have higher cholesterol can lower it by changing their fat sources to more mono/plant fats like avocado, olive oil, salmon, nuts, olives rather than saturated fats found in butter, dairy, fatty red meats, chicken skin etc.
Doing low carb and low fat only leaves protein an Dover eating protein will turn to bs as well.
How about trying some more balanced meals with mono fats. Like lettuce wraps or salads with some protein and olive oil and some avocado ? Nuts or olive for snacks?
There are many on this forum who have to limit saturated fats due to cholesterol. I am one of them but I still eat an 80% fat diet.
Feel better. We all have our bad days. Very frustrating I know...
@nessa1970 Dont blame yourself - we all have **** days. None of us are perfect, and it's simply not possible to be perfect all the time with Type 1. Concentrate on your successes.
Firstly, change your long acting insulin pen/vial in case it's lost effectiveness.
If the highs persist even with new insulin, could they be anything to do with your evening meal?
Are you under extra stress or ill or got something hormonal going on?
ThanksHi. I assume you are on Basal/Bolus and hence have a meal-time insulin as well as the Lantus? What sort of diet are you having? It is important that you keep the carbs down but don't worry about the fats too much and have good fats where you can such as omega 3 ones as in fish etc. The NHS tells people to keep fats down when you have high cholesterol but it's the liver that determines what your cholesterol is and carbs can be the culprit. Proteins are fine of course.
