Hello everyone this is my first post. I am a type 2 and have been since september 2011. I am currently taking 1 x 5mg Saxagliptin and also 2 x 1000mg slow releasing Metformin. I'm also taking statins. My diabetes tablets had been working well, but sisnce the begining of the new year my blood sugars had increased quite alot, so much that it felt like before I was diagnosed with diabetes. ie thirst, going the toilet, eyesight deteriating etc. So I just had a blood test and the doctor confirmed this, he asked me to consider going on gliclazide and said about the constant blood testing due to driving laws. The problem is I do driving for my job! Can anyone shed anymore light on taking gliclazide and its impact on driving. I never really get much information from my doctor as he just seems to type away on his computer and doesnt really give me much information. Also last summer I told him that I never seem to have any energy, he then taps away on his computer and says he was going to make me an appointment with a " tiredness" specialist. But whenever I mention this he allways says does the same thing, I asked him the same today and said have I not heard anything! So can anyone give me any info on Gliclazide and any problems with doctors, also I was thinking I see my normal GP, should I really be seeing a diabetes specialist? Thank you
