Could you please tell us which Glucomen meter it was that you had upgraded? It may help others with an upgrade if they happen to have the same meter and have had no contact from their GP or diabetes team.

No, it isn't the ISO standard it is the code you need to enter to get the free upgrade like @type1lozzie stated above

Please be aware that most manufacturers are happy to give away their meters, because they can more than recover that initial cost by selling testing strips. If your meter/strips are NHS-funded, your HCP may not be happy funding an increased cost in strips.
Something to consider, as well as the meter satisfying strict compliance standards.
I have a Glucomen Lx Plus, and there is always an offer to upgrade in every box of strips.

But yes, it is @alhubb... I'll guess it's almost entirely to ensure that the ISO 2013 standards are met, and that older meters which do not meet the requirements are superceded by ones that do. The deadline for this was actually almost a year ago.
