Hello All

I am very confused with my recent glucose values. I have not been diagnosed with diabetes untill now

My History - My last HbA1c Oct 2021 - 36mmol
HbA1c Dec 2018 - 38mmol
HbA1c Dec 2015 - 38mmol

Lab 12 hours fasting Last Plasma glucose test - 4.6mmol 2021
Lab Random Plasma glucose test - 4.8mmol 2020

I ahve a history of Fatty liver Disease . Recently I have got know from Nhs(patientinfo) and other articles
HbA1c will not show correct values when person having Liver disease. This made me to three days tests before goign to doctor

My Tests history of my three days testing with accu check instant

All three days fasting 8 to 10 hours are normal - 4.7mmol, 4.6mmol and 5.3mmol
some random checks in day time all are normal(5 to 5.3's) and some evening times all are normal (5.1's)

My main rise is after eating 2 hours testing :

1.before meal : 5.2 , after meal 30 mins to 2hours testing(every 30 mins 4 times) - no higher than 7.5 after 2 hours value = 7.5mmol moderate meal

2.before meal : 5.0 , after meal 30 mins to 2hours testing(every 30 mins 4 times) - Peak value - 13.7 after 2 hours value = 11.1 mmol heavy meal

3.before meal : 5.1 , after meal 30 mins to 2hours testing(every 30 mins 4 times) - Peak value - 12.0 after 2 hours value = 10.0 heavy meal - same meal
4.before meal : 5.1 , after meal 30 mins to 2hours testing(every 30 mins 4 times) - Peak value - 10.0 after 2 hours value = 8.7 heavy meal - same meal

Occasionally I go small urine frequently in day times - I dont have any other symptoms.
I am not sure what my values mean , I am booking an diabetologist. I am seeing this values only after eaating

Could you please advise what is the best way in get right diagnosis

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I think your best way forward would be if you have not recently had a HbA1c test to discuss with your GP the possibility of having one maybe show him/her the readings you have been getting. As things change over time and even 2021 is is not that recent.

@JohnEGreen Thanks John . I have a question do we need to really consider only after 2 hours value after the meal. ex: at 60min after meal is 13mmol and 1 hour after the meal value is 10mmol and 2 hours the value is 7.0 . here what value we should consider is that 7.0? or 13 0r 10 ?please. this what somewhat confusion for me as well.

It would help if you could explain what you mean by a moderate and heavy meal, the levels our blood sugar get to after a meal is pretty much dependant on what the meal is and how many carbohydrates it contains.

thank you @catinahat for your kind links.

My Heavy meal was easily over 120g carbs and my moderatew as mroe than 100g of carbs

roughly :

with approx 120g I had seen 13.7 after 1 hours and 11.1 after 2 hours
with approx 100g I had seen 7 after 1 hours after 2 hours value = 7.5

It is possible that your doctor could do a fructosamine test insted of an hba1c. (They tend to be used for pregnant women because they measure bgs over a few weeks rather than a few months but they can be useful if the hba1c test is suspected to be inaccurate).
