Glucose measuri apps.

Hi, my name is Maurice.
Has anyone used one of these apps for your phone to measure glucose, as I can't see how an app could possibly read glucose level, is it a scam?

Hi and welcome.

The answer to that depends a little. There are phone apps that will pick up a signal from a constant glucose monitor and display the info on the phone. The phone isn't doing the reading, the CGM is. The phone is really just the display, and the app isn't doing any direct measuring. Many people use these (I'm not one of them), and from all reports they seem to work quite well.

On the other hand, there are things being advertised - I'm thinking of the watches etc that claim to read glucose levels - which to my mind are simply a scam. There are several threads about these elsewhere on the forums. I can't think of anyone who's come back with a story of how well whatever it is, is working.
 
There are also apps which store readings from glucometers and display them on your phone. With current technology I know if no way to get glucose readings from your body without a fingerprick test (via a glucometer) or a sensor which has a filament stuck in your arm (or elsewhere in your body).

You need to give an example of the type of apps you're talking
about, as without knowing which ones specifically, it's impossible
to answer your question.

As Ellie and Kenny have said, nothing can "read" your BGLs without
a physical sample of your blood to work with. If the app you're referring
to claims to do so without a sample, then yes, it is a scam.
