Glucose tablets

Thank you Cumberland, I had a look at it but they are out of stock, also I have lots of tablets from Sainsburys which are totally a different shape, but thank you I will keep my eye open for one if they come back in stock
No problem, if you have them in your handbag in a tube then you cant go wrong
I am probably paranoid and have glucose tablets beside me on the bedside table, car keys and round my neck on a lanyard at work as well as in the glove box of the car
I don't like hypo's and glucose tablets help

good luck

@Magsx1 if you are finding it difficult to budge any more weight you could try reducing your carbs even further. I generally stay under 20 gr a day. At one stage after I went off track I was eating less than 10 gr carbs per day but my head didnt thank me for it but I did get the weight off quickly. Some here will say dont eat porridge or fruit but personally I think we all have to eat what suits us and if you find it easy to stick to them that is. great.
How long did you wait after eating your fruit before you tested your BS.

Hi,
I always test two hours after any meal,I had cheese instead of porridge today and my read is 4.8 but I will be having lunch soon at a fish restaurant , this is when it will be hard not to have chips or bread lol but it's my birthday so I will try to be good but it's not guaranteed!

How did you feel when your bloods were 3.6?

For T2s, not taking the stronger style of drugs (which your profile suggests you don't), then it is unlikely you'd have a medically serious hypo, although some people do feel low and empty when their numbers go down.

I would try to resist using glucose tablets as that's quite an assault on the system, when you're trying to reduce sugars. In effect you are driving down your bloods (by managing your dietary carbs), then a big sugar boost from glucose tablets driving it back up again. If you find yourself regularly feeling (and on testing are) low, then maybe just have a bit more breakfast, lunch or whatever your preceding meal is, if you know you're going walking?

Hi,
That's what I was thinking about the glucose tablets, I can kinda tell just before I go low,but it's normally while doing some form of exercise, but as you say maybe I will try a bit more food before starting out, thank you for your reply.

I often go low when I'm walking always try to eat a little extra before I set off and also carry my test kit incase.I also find shopping a hard one to cope with I was in a crowd of shoppers Friday had to go and check my bs and have glucose tablets it comes on quite sudden

I do a lot of long distance walking (10 to 20 miles a day with a 15 to 20 kg pack) and I find that to maintain a good bs level I can eat a Mars bar an hour :). If I do what my diabetes clinic recommend and eat slow release carbs I find d that I either have a lot of hypos or have to eat so many carbs that when I stop walking

Im the opposite, if I eat something like a mars bar and I go out walking my BS will crash quite badly so I rely on my peanuts to keep it stable.

Forgive me my ignorance in asking this question (I don't take any medication for T2 so not sure how it works!) Is the purpose of taking medication to lower BS levels? If you are taking medication but experiencing hypos due to BS levels being too low, should level of medication be lowered or stopped? Sorry if this seems like a stupid question!
