Have just returned from yearly check up

Went in and she asked me how I was feeling so told her that on the 28th of this month I am having a laperoscopy to find out if it is pcos, still limping badly due to left ankle, have finally sorted out my toothache just waiting for it to be extracted next month still have the pain though and a general feeling of being rundown. Yes I am still taking the medication for severe depression and no not sleeping great due to the toothache/headache. Also looking forward to having the pedicurist coming round on the 27th (ongoing ingrown toenail problem) She costs me £16 but so worth it.

She immediately assumes that I havent kept good control as numbers gone up. last time 6.6 now its gone up to 7.4 also my good cholesterol has gone up. weight the same so now I have an appointment to see the doc regarding Metformin.

The reason for being gobsmacked is that when I mentioned this site and that people had come off the tablets she said well you havent got good control so I doubt if it will happen for you. I feel like eating a huge plate of pasta to comfort me. Instead I am going to have a good cry on the bed.

Just put all the things that have happened in the bin and have a good cry and sleep.
They are not helping you at all with the negative comments. So just treat them with the disdain they deserve. They should be encouraging you ?

Hi CL
even if you don't get off medication completely, you are still in charge of your own treatment. That's a definite plus.
Getting a bit down sometimes, is inevitable. It's worse if you are physically tired through not sleeping.
Once the dental problem is solved, you can get back on an even keel.
I'm so lucky with my DSN, she knows I'll do what I think best and doesn't try to persuade my otherwise and is a willing arm to lean on when things get tough.
If yours isn't like that, she's not as good as she should be. Tell her next time you see her, hoe supportive other DSNs are.
Shame her if you can.

Thanks for the reply , I think this woman is beyond shaming an elderly friend of ours is also a diabetic and through problems she was late for a couple of her appointments and the nurse made her feel very small for her tardiness.

When I next go for my hba1c in October/November if my bloods are fine she doesnt want to see me until this time next year????????? Is this normal to be seen just once a year or have I drawn a really short straw as far as monitering goes.

Since being diagnosed with T2 three and half years ago I have only been seen after 6 months once and the other times at 9 months, and last time at 10 months. At the last review I was told that I wasn't seen at 10 months instead of 6 months because my results were good the time before. My results were very good at the last review but then they said they would see me in 6 months next time so that does not 'add up'. I get the feeling they say what suits them at the time so I am not counting on being seen in 6 months time especially if there is a lot of flu about in the autumn and the surgery is busy. I don't get to know all my blood test results either, just what she thinks I am not capable of understanding them. It irks me too that I cannot see what is on the computer because of my bad eyesight - perhaps I should take my reading glasses. Twice I was seen by a podiarist but then was told the nurse would look at my feet at reviews instead unless I had a problem with my feet. The podiarist used a gadget to listen to blood flow but the nurse did not have a gadget and when I said I had not had my feet checked for 18 months she felt the pulse near my ankle and I think that if the nurse is going to do instead she should have a gadget. To me this change is to save money. Howeveon the positive side I was pleased that I am now going to the local community hospital to have my eyes checked properly and will be seen by them from now on - I hope. I have noticed from forums that it depends on the surgery practice and where you live as to when you are seen and what happens at your reviews despite recommendations by NICE.

Sounds like they're trying to save money at the patient's expense. Hopefully when you get your tooth fixed that will improve things (high BG from infection and inflammation), but I'm amazed with PCOS you aren't already on metformin, it costs pennies comparatively.

Revenge is a dish best served cold. It may take time to get there but PROVE HER WRONG! <evil grin>

Poor you, I hope that you are feeling a little better now!
It hurts when people say things like that! I am sure that there are lots of people here who will offer and give support to you! I am hope that you have had a good cry!
Personally i think that you are doing fine! So is this person a Psychic? As if she is then she is in the wrong job!
No one knows what the future holds for any of us! Just keep doing what you are doing! Don't let her get to you!

Dental infections are particularly prone to cause havoc with your blood sugar control. Be aware that it can take time to settle after the extraction.

My podiatrist cured my ingrown toenails over several painless treatments and this is so much better than the alternative. Worth every penny!

It sound like you have misery in your head, your heart, your belly and below your knees. How are your thighs and arms doing?

Well have been to doctor today to talk about medicine and she thinks there is no need for me as I am still within the guidelines. She does however think its a good idea for me to start testing so have an appointment with nurse *****. Oh I am going to secretly gloat. :twisted:
