GOOD AFTERNOON/EVENING.

Good Afternoon Everybody:). Although it's very grey and dismal here in York City, it is warm and sultry with a slight breeze. Hope your all enjoying the day:)

Glad to see you're up and about after all your celebrating @liam1955 . Feeling good after a 13 km "ride" earlier, I'm flicking between the Test Match and the Grand Prix.

Hello @nomoredonuts - Did you check your blood sugar before and after your bike ride? (Just wondered what your results are/were!).
My overnight fasting was a ridiculous 8.7 and I have not eaten anything yet and just tested to have a 4.2, so to stop me going hypo will just have a lump of cheese, this will see me till my next meal at 5.30pm. Enjoy the Cricket and Grand Prix. :)

Tested at 6.5 after, but not testing diligently ATM, as I'm taking a break from metformin. I'm averaging 7.1 since I stopped, and have never thus far achieved sub 5.8 since diagnosis.

@nomoredonuts - Can I ask why you are taking a break from the Metformin?:)
The longer answer is detailed here: http://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/heres-a-funny-thing.838/
The short version is I'm about to start on the slow-release after checking I'm free of the galloping trots when off the Metformin -which I am. Even though my BG hasn't climbed (I get a 9 or 8.9 then 6's and 7's). I'll probably try to go on 1x500mg, not 2 and keeping shoving those numbers down. I'm at a wedding in the frozen North this week (Bedford), so I'll leave off the Met till after then.

@nomoredonuts - I must be one of the "Lucky Ones" as the only side effect I suffer with Metformin is bouts of Constipation. I take 4 tablets of 500mg Metformin a day and 44 units of Insulin daily. (I have been taking Metformin for nearly 16 years, and began using Insulin 2 years ago). But, as the article stated - ask your GP for the SR version which is better tolerated by a lot of people. :)

I hope everyone is having a lovely day - it's a gorgeous afternoon here in South Gloucestershire.
The Tiny Terrorists have had a fab time with the hose and a couple of ice lollies - what more could you possibly need?!! I've got them washing all their garden toys, working to the cunning plan that if I tire them out in the sunshine they'll sleep well tonight! :D

Hi William, went up to 9.0 last night 3hrs after eating, not amused. Had a bit of cheese and it was back down a bit to 7.5 after approx. 25 mins.

Today - 7.2@ 6.15 am
The rest of the day has been 6.6 highest & 5.2 lowest, so not too bad. Still think I'll (we) abstain until Xmas lol.

Did you enjoy your birthday? I hope so & that R really spoilt you. Has the burning subsided a bit?

I've been catching rays, as my daughter would say, (the sun kind, not hubby kind, lol). Get terrible prickly heat until I'm used to it, at least after a few bouts of heat-stroke when I was (a lot) younger, I now get a nice colour considering I'm quite fair skinned. I don't know about you, but I do feel better with a tan. Beats looking rusty!!!

Lovely photos Debra, I hope you're not being too optimistic regarding the sleeping, lol. May be having 1 of my grandsons tonight, but he's of an age (9) where he's into his ipad etc, so goes up to bed and we can hear him chuckling from upstairs.

Enjoy the evening and hopefully an early peaceful night.

Aww they're gorgeous! DS used to love washing his outdoor toys, it was a great excuse to get soaked :)

@doolallylady - Hiya Karen. Touching Wood (my head:D) not suffered today, only had 2 Coffee's and LOADS of water. My fasting was 8.7 and so I ate nothing until 3pm when it was 4.2, so ate a lump of cheese to get me to evening meal at 6pm. I have to be careful with being on Insulin as well as Metformin because my blood sugar has dropped very suddenly - I've only had 3 Hypo's in the 2 years whilst taking Insulin, and they scared me, my blood sugar just dropped to 2.7 and it took a good 24 hours before I felt myself again.
I avoid the Sun at all cost (taking drugs that make me photosensitive) But, R loves it, and tans really brown. We had Friday as my birthday day out (before kids broke up from school) and of course 'everyone' bought Chocolates, Chocolates and Chocolates - I keep telling them NO, I don't want anything. My Sister bought the best = a bag of Caramac Buttons Yummy my Favourites.!! (and we are going out for birthday meal in 2 weeks).
I had my 60th last year and a Birthday Bash and R bought me 18ct gold pinky ring with 3 Emerald Stones ( my birthstone). I wore a pinky signet ring for 30 years that my Parents bought me. I lost it when in the sea on holiday in Cyprus some 5 years ago and I was absolutely gutted! And kept saying I would buy a new ring, but never got round to it.
I had 2 glasses of Red Wine last night and I slept like a Baby - just thought = wonder if the Red Wine could have helped ease the burning???
Have a lovely evening Karen. Going over to see the Expectant Mum tomorrow who is nearing 20 weeks, R is so excited at being Granddad at 54.:D William xx:eek:

Hi Barbara, how are you today? Did you enjoy the show? I've never seen River Dance live, just on the tv, I was worn out just watching them.
Karen xx

William,

Chocolates, Chocolates and Chocolates - I keep telling them NO, methinks you're telling porkies :hilarious: Bet the Caramac buttons didn't last, or get shared!!!

Glad it's easier today, you'll have to keep trying the wine & see if it works. I've never had a hypo, but reading everyone's experiences of them on here, they sound really alarming.

Your birthday pinky ring sounds gorgeous, what a shame that the other was lost, I hate that. We bought son a yellow gold diamond stud earring (he's the only 1 of us with a pierced ear) for his 21st and then bought a white gold 1 for his graduation. He swapped the yellow for the white gold one and lost it a couple of years later when he was out in Cardiff. I wasn't happy because it was quite expensive.

I love babies, don't like kids much , but ahhhh babies I could sit and cwtch & smell them all day. It'll be lovely for you & R to have a brand new, perfect little person to drool over and spoil rotten. Are they going to find out the gender or wait for a surprise?

Hi Karen, I'm good thanks. The show was great, they're so light on their feet! The show finished just before 10 so I was ready to get my pyjamas on when I got home :)

Hi everyone, hope you've all had a really good day and good weather. xx

Yes thanks. It's being purposeful. Moved 50% of the balance of my pile of pebbles into my back garden. Just one more day and that job is done thank goodness:)

Thanks, Karen - it's not going quite as planned yet. I put them to bed, read them a story and sang them a song 45 minutes ago, and I can still here them in there, whispering. (Why is it that little kids' whispers are louder than their normal speaking voices?!!)
:(
