Good And Bad Results

Thank you. Unfortunately, I haven't lost a lot of weight (a stone in the past 3months). I hoping to loose a bit more. Thanks for the explanation and links, will definetely listen to them soon. I just hope the numbers will be better on the next 3months check.
My cholesterol shot up as well and I lost about 22 pounds very quickly but over the last 18 months it has come down. My ratios and my trigs are all excellent and everything I read says the higher your cholesterol, the better your brain functions as you get older. I was at 7.2 and am now at 5.6 total so i would give it a few months. I eat a lot of sardines and mackerel, olive oil and avocado and pecans and almonds, Well done on your HbA1C - that is an amazing reduction!

Thank you all for the great support and welcome hopefully, I will be reporting only good news in three months time x
I hope so too, but do keep in touch between now and then if you wish to. The more the merrier. :)

Please report all news, as if we told tell poeple abput the errors we make, they can't learn from them, so will make the same errors.

Hi @Sue2335 and welcome to the forum. Well done on your great HbA1c reduction in such a short time. I't's good to hear that this forum has helped you in your progress. I hope you will continue to keep us updated.

I can't add anything to the advice you've already been given except to have a read round the forum about cholesterol and statins.
You should also ask your surgery for online access to your medical record and test results so you can see your cholesterol breakdown. If they don't have online access ask for a printout of your test results.

Well done @Sue2335 on your glycated haemoglobin HbA1c component reduction.

Metformin is necessary on a daily basis but could be reduced to avoid hypoglycemia but don't stop.

Other useful advice:
1. Eat more of polysaturated fats found in fish. Also eat lots of cruciferous vegetables, low glycemic-index fruits and some nuts.
2. Do daily light exercise that is not stressful but seek your doctor's advice first.
3. Aggressive control of your BP.
4. Low Carb diet for life.
5. Avoid sugary or fizzy drinks.
6. Moderate alcohol intake.
7. Blood Glucose meter for home check of your fasting blood sugar. It will put you in control of your diabetes and observe your progress or failure to adjust your lifestyle.
8. Keep up with reading other people's personal experience of DT2 on this forum.
9. No smoking.
10. Keep in touch with your diabetic team.
