Hi all,
Im new to the forum been a type 2 for nearly 2 years now, I've been reading about how bad healthy cereals are for us, i also am a body builder and normally eat 5 yes 5 weetabix for breakfast with skimmed milk and no sugar , its good for gym life but not the best for diabetes life, just wondered if there were any suggestions for a good middle ground or swap, or anyone in my current situation that can help.

Im currently on 2 gliclazide per day and 1 metformin per day,

Any help would be great thanks.

Ant.

Eggs, mushrooms, bacon, cheese have no carbs, l usually have natural yogurt with almonds or Brazil nuts and strawberries, which is quite low in carbs.

Hi and welcome! :)

It might help if you gave a bit of detail about what/when/why you have been making weetabix your brekkie of choice?
And how much time/prep are you prepared to devote to a new breakfast regime?
And what do you actually LIKE for breakfast. There are so many options (from last night's leftovers to a Full Fryup to Berries and yog) so what are your actual preferences?

This morning I went to new little cafe that has opened in my town that does only clean eating - it was really very nice and surprisingly busy - mostly body builders I have to add! I hade grilled hallumi with mushrooms and spinach and a slice of lower carb high protein bread call ed Zak? toasted, They also do bagels but they are higher carb (I have never heard of this range but a slice is 14g - bit high for some I know but ok for me) was delicious and very filling

I usually have a slice of burgen toast with either mushrooms, bacon or 93% sausages. I can't eat eggs any more and I don't like dairy much so just couldn't face anything remotely yogourty/creaming in the morning. Cold meats and cheeses are great too

I love eggs, and the best Christmas present I had a few years back was an egg boiler from Lakeland!

They've now upgraded that model - the new one is slightly different - but it means I can boil eggs in less time and with less fuss while I'm doing lots of other stuff.

I was given it when I lived somewhere that had only an oil-fired range cooker which wasn't the sort that was on all the time - and heating it up in the mornings JUST to boil some eggs was just silly.

So, soft-boiled eggs pre- or post-gym (or both), plus I always do a couple extra for snacks during the day.

Did I mention that I love eggs?

my hospital 'Centre Hospitaier Bretagne Atlantic' diabetic dietician told me Breakfast Bread 80g Butter 20g and I have been doing as I have been told and I amdoing fine
