An interesting concept Catherine but until all our different health care trusts start offering similar advice exactly what advice would these volunteers be told to give out?

You only have to read this forum to know there are almost as many ways to control diabetes as there are diabetics and we have learned that we are all different, well most of us have  We have also collectively concluded that some form of carb reduction seems to be the best way to control T2 diabetes would these volunteers have similar views, I wonder.

If it's based on just dietary advise then it will be likely based on they hospital carb counting course..

Weston doesn't offer DAFNE perfering to use their own version of T1 carb counting, which what I can gather from a fellow pumper who started pumping same time as me (he came to my hospital clinic, in fact out of 4 people starting on pumps I was the only one from my hospital!) there version of DAFNE wasn't a patch on the real thing!

But if it gets the basic information to the new T2 quicker than waiting on a long list for the dietican, then I suspect it would be a good thing..

Ah the Big (Diabetic) Society :)

I think this is the same 'programme' that featured in the news a few weeks back, am sure it is for over 50s T2 diagnosed diabetics.

I suppose like this forum, nice to have some helpful suggestions or even just an opportunity to chat about concerns or ask questions - I still have plenty since I joined this year. I would like to speak to an actual dietician because at times it feels like nothing I do makes a difference, anyhoos, DESMOND on 22nd Aug (only 5 months after I was diagnosed...note my sarcasm here)

Hey Sanobar you were offered it.
I asked nad wwas told I din'tneed to go on any nutrition course as I was 'too sensible shoudl know alot about it anyway'! - nurses perception of an enquiring patient who asked tooo many questions me thinks - or perhaps she runs it!!
