I'm so happy. My HbA1c blood test yesterday came through already and the doctor says it's 44. I thought my last reading was 51 but she tells me it was 50 - but that aside....apparently they take a combination of the 2 results which means I'm just short of being Diabetes Type 2 now. It also means they consider me under control and good enough to have my operation.

I guess it's all thanks to my strict diet for the past 3 weeks and all your advice - but I'm totally amazed. To be honest I didn't think I'd stand a chance of turning it around quite so quickly so I'm a bit puzzled - almost like something isn't right?!

I also think my blood monitor must be 'out' more than I thought because they tested my fasting blood yesterday at 5.9 (which my doctor said was normal) but before I had the test I tested at home on my own machine and it was 7.1 I know they aren't wholly accurate but that seems quite a bit to be out? (I use codefree).

But anyway I'm celebrating with 2 raspberries, 5 blueberries and some cream :-D ...plus a chunk of cheese...

Pleased for you:

Most T2 diabetics can make very dramatic changes, very quickly with eating lower carbohydrates. My blood glucose normalized, aside from the dawn phenomenon by the time I got the courage to test it 3 days after diagnosis. Working out the A1c takes longer, of course since it is a measurement of accumulation over time.

Congratulations!

Thanks Clivethedrive and Freema - I have a fresh chance to follow a good weight loss and diet plan - especially now I know where I'm heading. It's been a good wake up call.
