Hi I am new to the Diabetes forum and have a question
I am Type 2 diabetic and have been for a long while. I test my blood sugars 2 hours before my shift and at regular periods throughout my 10 hour shift.
When I started my blood sugars were between 10 and 12mmol.
I have now managed to get them down between 5-7mmol.
I have given up virtually all carbs and can’t understand why I am not loosing any weight.
Any help would be great full.

Hi wayne@31 and welcome to the forums.

Do you have your most recent HbA1c result? While fingerprick testing can give you an indication about what's going on with you at the point you tested, the A1c gives you a much broader picture going back around three months.

Can I also ask why you're testing while working? Are you eating during this time? Do you test any other times?

And are you sure you've given up "virtually all" carbs? there are many foods which contain high levels of sugar/carbs and which are regularly and wrongly promoted to T2s as "healthy" - eg wholemeals, fruit, porridge....

Are you eating a healthy amount? For weight loss on low carb, we still need to eat fewer calories than we burn.

My register all my calories on an app which adds up during the day. I eat between 1000 and 1250 calories a day.

Hi Wayne. Apologies for this approach straight off the bat, but a few personal questions may help us provide advice. If you don't want to answer, not a problem.

Do you know what your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is? This can vary from calculator to calculator, depending on how you've calculated it (if you have).

How often do you weigh yourself? Do you always do it at the same time on weigh in days?

You say you're not losing any weight. Are you maintaining the same weight, or does it just fluctuate around a similar level?

How much weight do you want to lose? What is your expectation/desired weight loss per week?
