When people who know nothing about the LCHF diet tell me I'm killing myself being on it. I was killing myself not being on it!
I caught a nasty virus from my husband, so for just about 4 days I have had a high temperature, up to 38.9 on Sat, 37.8 Sun and normal for most of today, but now 37.5 no vomiting, but diarrhoea and aching bones. I have lived on just 3 slices of toasted white bread (all the bakery had left at 9pm) and 4 poached eggs since then. Tonight I had 2 rashers of bacon and 2 fried eggs. Bad move! I'm now eating a banana. What else can I eat?
I've taken 2 Imodium tablets tonight, not a good idea with a virus, but I've had enough!

I spoke to the health practice nurse, she said avoid some liquids (milk, tea, no added sugar drinks, coffee, fizzy drinks) but I can have water. Also said to eat toast, rice, chicken with no skin, bananas. Apart from the chicken, food I avoid. My sugar levels are mixed, high as 12, down to 5.4
I have lost about 6 lbs in 4 days, the only up side!

Hi,
Drink lots of water it will help hydrate you. Keep a close eye on your sugars.
Hope you feel better soon. Take paracetamol for the temperatures.
Take care

Thanks @Kittycat_7_ doing all of the above.

The whole bananas, rice white bread, apples, (known as BRAT) etc. diet is dire for type 2s. Every one a glucose spiker, which then makes me feel even worse than the virus did.

Having experienced the norovirus, food poisoning (thanks Xmas party) and another rather nasty tummy bug in recent years, I now ignore all that BRAT nonsense. I have no intention of disrupting my body's healing with high blood glucose.

Instead, I start with that traditional standby of Chicken Soup. Works like a charm.
You can make your own (v easy) or buy a fairly non-carby one.
Either way, much better for you than carbs.

Blitz it with a hand blender.
Then over time, you can add in a few well cooked veg, and leave the chicken in lumps, and then ease back onto solids.

Here is a good, basic chicken soup recipe just to show how unbelieveably easy it is to make:
