Hair loss

So just before and after the diagnosis of me being diabetic I realised that my hair started to fall off rapidly. With time it was getting worse and worse and I know that I'm stressed out a lot but it couldn't be just that...
So from the start of this year I stoped taking insulin and just trying to eat as little carb is possible so I could loose weight fast (yes I know that was stupid) but I also realised that my hair was falling but less rapidly
So here is my question does my insulin which I'm using could do this and if so how can I stop my hair falling???

The insulin which I'm using is Levamir and Novorapid

@Domi0205 just before being diagnosed T1 my hair became very thin and seemed to be receding. I bought loads of different shampoos thinking they'd help........... they didn't. I now realise that the weight loss was so severe, my body was starving and had started to close down unnecessary functions, ie hair.
I've been on Levemir and Novo since diagnosis 16months ago and my hair is back to normal and no longer a problem. Unfortunately, I'm now overweight.

Yea that's what I'm afraid of is being overweight because sadly most girls my age has some kind of contest to be pretty, skinny and beautiful
Including me‍‍♀️

You're 18 .. yes, sensitive time but what you feel now is a light year from where you'll be in a few short years.

Please be careful about potentially developing an eating disorder. Once your body goes below a certain weight it can become very hard to think rationally about food and at your age you're still doing things like increasing bone density so that you don't develop osteoporosis when you're older. Eating disorders are quite common in T1s, maybe because we're already having to worry about diets and counting carbs, but you really really don't want to go there, they're incredibly destructive even to non-diabetics.

@Domi0205 are you back to taking your insulin now? Have you discussed this with your nurse?
It’s a long time since I was a teenager but I remember the intensity of feelings and the pressure to conform. But your health is about more than appearance.

Just speculating here... could it be related to thyroid function? I know that hypothyroidism causes hair loss (among other things), I know chronic stress suppresses proper thyroid function, and I know that as Type 1's, we're already immuno-compromised... Might be worth looking into.

But more broadly speaking, once your body is back in its proper balanced state, i.e. with proper insulin doses and sensible eating habits, I would imagine that things like hair growth will regulate themselves.

@Domi0205 - Things like our hair thinning when we're not too well or it improving when we get better doesn't tend to happen overnight. It takes a little while for the hairloss to start, as your body will try to keep going as normal, then it takes a while for you to recover.

I would guess that your hair got better because you were taking insulin, but took a little while to show (it takes a while for hair to grow noticably), but the fact it is thinning again is not a good sign.

Please do take your insulin as prescribed. If you gain a few pounds as your body recovers from it's dianosis that can be dealt with in much healthier ways. Not taking your insulin is a very dangerous choice.
