has anyone read in the telegrapgh or dailymail about how the Harvard folks were paid off to blame fat for heart desease instead of sugar, so for 60 years they could sell there low fat products and diets only for people to get fatter and more unhealthy. Now we know sugar in foods is the real poison. And now they are developing artificial sweetners the say are safe, I don't but it and won't be eating or drinking that either, any thoughts.

Not surprised at anything like this to be fair, have read enough and my experience through sifting medical papers, there is total confusion out there, especially in the press and media as to what is healthy for us all. But regarding someone like me who has a intolerance to most foods and still told to eat them. Defies logic.
There are certain fats that we should eat and those that are deliberately deposited in manufactured food because it is cheaper and makes the machines run better, that shouldn't go any where near a human! Same with some sugars or glucose. And a lot of sweeteners should definitely not be in food.
If there was anyone initially to blame, blame the American farmers and the surplus of certain money crops, that they needed to get rid of! And the so called experts that changed western diets, so that the food manufacturers could cash in on with cheap and nasty alternatives!

Yes feeling very lied to. It's a great job today we have the Internet to find things out ourselves from people that have transformed their own health and read how they done it, which is a inspiration to others lost on the path. This forum is a god send. Drs push pills not cures. Hospital treat the sick I would love to set up a wellness center for folks to stay and learn all about their own health taloired to them, as each of us is a individual with unique challenges in life, we share and we learn, keep sharing.

I am old enough, (just about) to remember and experience poverty, when we had to do without a lot of things, like fruit and vegetable oils weren't heard of, everything was based on meat, fresh from the butchers, cheap cuts and offal usually, cheap vegetables with the meat and a king Eddie or Murphy boiled not chipped, everything fried in beef dripping or roasted in the oven, roasties cooked in animal fats, gravy made from the fat!
Other foods like bread fresh from the bakers without the thousands one additives to keep it longer in the bread bin!
Our diet then was much healthier then but would have the dieticians pulling their hair out now because it's not low fat and animal fats! Go figure?

Yup - we've been conned for years and although these guys and may be others started it, the real problem is the numerous experts who just promulgate the nonsense without checking it's validity. That includes the NHS, DUK, BHF, FSA etc etc. Virtually all of these 'expert' organisations quote the same stuff almost word for word. As Malcom Kendrick says, no one wants to be out of line and hence we have Group-think. As an engineer I'm naturally suspicious if there is no obvious trail to some real facts and I never just accept an 'experts' opinion until they have proved to me their knowledge isn't just someone else's stuff regurgitated.

We can of course blame the Americans (sorry to any on here) it was a president who had a heart attack that formed what is now the ADA. And the 'scientists' backed it up with pseudo evidence.
