Has anybody else had their blood meter changed by the doctors

I have never had my meter forcibly changed, but have changed meters three time in the past and found all it took was a letter from my Nurse. This is also the case I have found for many other things in relation to my condition. You will be surprise as to how much authority a leter from your nurse can have

Once I got a blood meter from my doc as a gift. I think it was an advertising compaign.

GP tried this on me, I told them that the meter they wanted me to use is niot supported on the software I run to moniter my condition, and that I have 2 meters, one that runs on a cartridge, and the other on strips, both run on the same software,
Added to this, My GP, like the print outs as does my consultant, ... The practice manager then said, " but ours are cheaper" so I replied, only if they do the same job, but they don't, do they!! she conceded, problem sorted,

The moral is that it is a cost saving exercise, nothing to do with good care!!
