I'm really confused now I have been reading that you should start having between 50-60 carbs at EACH MEAL. I have been having about 60 carbs A DAY What is right?
Also feel weak and tired. I have been pigging out but have been good for the last three days, even though not feeling well. Have I been doing it right?

Doing what wrong? What are your BG like? If they're good then your doing fine.

Hi Lilliepop, It is good to restrict carbs as a diabetic. How much you restrict them is a personal issue, it is a good idea to test your blood immediately before you eat and again two hours after, the result should be around the same. If it is higher after two hours, you may need to reduce the size of the portion that you eat.
Out of interest who told you eat 50-60gof carbs a meal ?? 50- 60 grams is a huge amount for one meal.

That is totally up to you. Some people do have 60grams a day and others may have 60g of carbs at each meal. I personally don't have more than 30g of carbs a day.

At the start you will probably feel tired and weak as I have read it takes your body up to 6 weeks to get used to low carbing. This will pass though.

You may have to play around with the amount of carbs you eat to find a level that is right for you. And TEST to find out the effects on your BG levels.

There are too many "experts" on carb intake all offering their own guidance and numbers. Ultimately, do whatever works for you. Most will at least agree that reducing carbs is of benefit but by how much is personal.

Would see gp regarding feeling weak and tired as could be a separate issue altogether. could be diet, too few or too many carbs, depending on levels, weight, activity, treatment your on etc.
