Hi all wondering if someone can help... i have had my hb1c results today and they are 97... i asked my gp what they ment by this an was told it was very high..also told that i need to loose weight and exercise..generalised that i was a couch potato and a fat git.. can someone tell me if 97 is high and dangerous and what i can do to lower this

Hi sarah, it's normal if you are stressing out, most get a shock when told they are diabetic.
it is high, but the good news is you can bring it down by cutting how many carbs you eat.

Hi Sarah. 97 is high but you can reduce it. I am a fat git and have reduced my glucose levels significantly by reducing my carbohydrates, exercising as much as I can ( which is not much). and using a glucometer to test before and after eating to determine which foods don't agree with me.

Yes, it is very high and will be damaging your health. Take the advice already given and set a daily carb target of, say, 150gm/day (yes, try to go for 150gm!). You should see the weight drop off and the blood sugar go down.

Hi all

Thank you for your comments...im not newely diagnosed but am a ****** for not taking pills. Tbh i have never been controlled properly by gps and told what not to do.
When you say carbs what is the safe amount to have? I eat bread but not often have potatoes alot and fibre.
I have been stressed alot lately so i guess that doesnt help....

Can you give me more info on the carbs side

Sarah :D
