hb1gc whatever?

ok always get the initals wrong l have read them million times mean nothing wont stick....noone stress l promise l wont.

l digress l am due my hb1gc whatever on 10feb.
Initally my dr said to take it one month into my diagnosis but my DN said waste time it is a 3month read take it once you have been on the tablets for 3 month.

l may be misreading but most seem to be told to do it at the start. lf you are is the like a pre treatment base or a waste of time?

Not a bother for me just interested l want my test to show how l have done on meds diet excercise not worried about before. Feel left out with nothing :- ))

And how often do you get the hgbc1 whatever test so l know to ask

I'd say the doc is right get it done as soon after diagnosis as possible. It's not as if it costs them a lot. The last time we looked an hba1c test costs your gp the princely sum of of 4 quid. The dn is right that its pretty pointless to have them done more than every quarter though.

Handy to know about repeats l am going to ask for a repeat at 3mth interval for a couple times if not offered to get an idea of how l am doing

I am not to good at explaining things, but here goes, The HBA1c measures the bits of glucose that stick to the red bits of blood over the last 3 months. Well sort of so it is best to get one done every 3 months, no point in having them more often. HbA1c & ful chol every 6 mo for D and same every 6 mo for kidneys so ~ every 3 months.

Hba1c every 4 months. Mine are done at the hospital and it takes 4 months to get an appointmet, that's why! Otherwise it would be every 3
