HBa1c 6.2%

Whilst your HbA1c is good, I have no idea what it was previously. Has it gone up or down or static ?

HbA1c only gives you an average over 3 months. It's a trend indicator.

The only real way to know if you are doing well is to test 2 hrs after your meals at least. See what your daily Bg levels are. They are more important.

Level of 12.6 is high, shows exactly how a HbA1c can miss all the highs and lows, yet still look good.

The average of all your BG readings and HbA1c are not comparable. HbA1c is NOT an average of your BG levels over 3 months, but an average of the haemoglobin level in the blood over that period of time.

A REALLY good explaination of it can be found here:

http://medweb.bham.ac.uk/easdec/prevent ... _hba1c.htm

Everyone shoul click on that link - it's golden info!

Basically - the only time when HbA1c and BG levels are similar, is around the 5% mark. This is why a lot of people aim for an HbA1c of 5% - it means their average BG is ALSO around the 5% mark.

Thanks for that link P atch even I can understand most of that.
