I think that once you're on the long slippery slope marked 'pre-diabetes', with HbA1cs on the high side of the normal range, you will end up diabetic unless you take control, so you might as well look after yourself - lifestyle etc - as if you really are diabetic.
I'm optimistic that, once I've got the weight off and my lifestyle firmly in place, I shall get off all meds and be within the 'normal' BG range.
But if I go back to my old ways, it's diabetes all the way - and probably progressive!
