Omg...i am so confused..2 weeks ago i was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes..hba1c was 69...i was put on metformin,ramipril and a statin...was having side effects from metformin..went to see diabetic nurse due to side effects...was taken off meds and told my hba1c wasnt high enough for meds,just do diet control...im really confused my gp ut me on metformin 3x daily and now nothing...anyone else had this

I am currently taking the maximum dose, but I did work up to it very gradually. IMO Metformin may help you lower your bg, but reducing the carbs in your diet will probably have a much bigger effect. I am sorry about your confusion. There is a lot of ignorance among medical professionals about diabetes, and unfortunately they often don't even know that they don't know! You might find it helpful to get hold of a copy of Jenny Ruhl's book, "You Diabetes Questions Answered". It may be in your local library, or you can buy it from Amazon:

An HbA1c result of 69 is a definite for T2 unless you have undiagnosed T1. Metformin is first treatment for those with T2. When diagnosed with T2 most people are offered a statin. The Ramipril for blood pressure depends on whether you have problems in that area.
I can quite understand why you are confused and I'm sorry to say this but you need to see your GP to get this sorted out. Just to clarify, you should have had two blood draws so two tests for HbA1c the second one being to confirm diagnosis. Have you had two?

Yes. The 1st one was 67and 2nd was 69...i was taken off metformin today..got to go back tomorrow and having a blood test on friday...the nurse told me today that the doctor rushed in giving me metformin....i have been testing my sugar and it was 11.4 before the metformin and ariund 7/8 since taking it....but the side effects were really bad.....i am so confused

I would be confused, too.
If you have been lowering the amount of carbs in your diet this is more likely to have given you better readings. Metformin lowers them only by 1mmol or 2mmol.
Maybe your Diabetes nurse is giving you the opportinity to try dietary changes first to see how you get on?

I had a HbA1c of 115 second one 97 and put on Metformin. I think it was increased too rapidly (2 days) and had problems. Told to come off it (having been on it fir less than two weeks) and controlling well with diet alone (LCHF) and according to mysugar app, my projected HBA1C is 34! It can be done. Feeling fantastic since I was taken off Metformin although I miss the appetite suppressing benefits!
