I make that nearly 19% weight loss. Congratulations! I do hope you have done it soon enough after diagnosis to reverse your T2. See https://nuvision.ncl.ac.uk/Player/ccIA665g above to learn that it could take months for your beta cells to recover completely. Actually they only go back to about 95% of what they were prior to active diabetes, but that is good enough for me. Good luck!

Hi all,

You may notice that a lot of posts are suddenly missing from this thread.
They were derailing this thread so I've moved them to a whole new thread which can be found here: https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/th...owering-hba1c-lchf-versus-low-calorie.196914/

Some posts were on topic for both threads, so if you find your post in either thread would be better placed in the other thread, just report your post and request for it to be moved back. :)

68 to 39 in 3 months with a 40 pound weight loss. I went lc/hf and intermittent fasting.. As my case eating once a day. Still have plenty of weight to lose but I’ve maintained my levels for a year…

I was diagnosed on 9 May 2023 with type 2 diabetes. BS was 24.1.
Two weeks later it has reduced to 6.5-6.9, with no sugar, low carb, lots of vegetables, running and strength training. (plus half a tablet of glikazide)

Hi,

First post!

I was diagnosed on 20 Feb with type 2 diabetes with HbA1C test of 114 / 12.6 and slightly high cholesterol. I have just had my 3 months test and my HbA1C is now 57 / 7.3 and all cholesterol markers are within normal range

I have only taken one metformin a day so far (is it worth it?), gave up on the avartostatin after a week and have lost 10k with low carb diet

I assume the results are OK as I haven't heard from my nurse or dr... you get the diagnosis and then left to it!

I was diagnosed 7 years ago. HAB1c of 75 went to 41 in 12 weeks and lost 12 kg. I trained and ran a half marathon 6 months later losing 25 kg in total with a reading of 32. I stayed at this for 2 years. I injured my knee and stopped all activity for 6 weeks. I found it hard to get back into it weight slowly crept up. Knee now needs to be replaced on wait list. Weight increased by 10 kg and HAB1c is back to 70. It's scary because I realise activity is key for control but I'm so limited. However I am living proof you can go into remission and I'm going to do it again. It might not be as fast but I'm going to do it. I'm on meds but my goal is off meds by Christmas.

I was diagnosed type 2 in Feb this year with a hba1c of 130. Just had my second taken last week and it's down to 42 :)
Am taking 1000mg Modified Release Metformin in the mornings, eating low carb (but not counting) and walking between 10,000 to 15,000 steps a day.

I reversed my diabetes a few years ago, but things went wrong and I found myself with an HbA1C of 85 in Dec 21. I reduced to 45 by June the following year. In December 22 I added atorvastatin to the 500mg dose of metformin I was taking, reluctantly as I'd read it could worsen diabetes and I was trying to put myself into remission again. The next set of blood tests showed everything had gone in the wrong direction, (HbA1C 49) so in March 23 I swapped the statins for Bempedoic Acid/ Ezetimibe and I've just had test results that show that my HbA1C has dropped from 49 to 44 in that time. My cholesterol results have all come down and are in the 'normal' range too. I sometimes wear a cgm and this has shown my baseline blood sugar level coming down to around 5 from 7 or 8 when I was on statins, so I'm hoping my next blood tests will show I'm in remission from diabetes 2. I have no idea why the Bempedoic acid / ezetimibe is so effective, but would love to find out.

That's a lovely positive reaction to one of diabetes' hiccups, and you thoroughly deserve such success.

Not quite reversed mine yet however I've just had my first hb1ac test since my original 106 test in late March this year and that had reduced to 53 in about 6 weeks.
This gives me some hope. Mine was 82 in April, and I’ve a blood test next week. Need to be below 68/69 for an operation.

Fingers crossed!
