HbA1c results pending eek!

Got my bloods taken today . HbA1c is one of the things being measured. Bit nervous about the results but its in advance of my first visit to the diabetic nurse. Its three months after my initial diagnosis so I'm not sure how accurate the results are going to be given I've only really been eating properly for 4 months and exercising. Still I'm due another one at the end of March so it might be useful to track my progress. Also get my cholesterol and one that had better drop I miss cheese,chocolate and sausages :thumbup:
Still Blood glucose averaging 6.1 higher in the morning but expect that given the exercise regime.

No need to drop the cheese and sausages (as long as they have a high meat content) if you are cutting the carbs.

Hi, someone very kindly posted on here that black farmer sausages are low in carbs/sugar so now i buy them although you say you are watching your cholesterol level. they taste very nice too.

Hi. Yup, quality sausages are fine so is 85% Dark Chocolate and cheese; just cut the carbs right down. Hba1C provides a 3 month average weighted towards the last month

@denise and nik442 thanks for the tip on the sausages .
My cholesterol is high along with my blood pressure so trying to balance several things at once without getting freaked.
@daibell, trying to get informed about loow carb diet, have cut out some carbs but still struggling making the adjustment. love bread, spuds , cereal etc.

I was diagnosed in October with my HbA1c being 12.6 at the time, I have just had my 1st one done (which included Christmas & the time trying to get my BS down) & it was 7.1. Cholesterol was 4.0. I was a happy bunny
So fingers crossed for you.

Hi Everyone,

Thought Id give you an update as you have been very supportive and I don't think I would have had such good results without the help, information and support from people here.

BP now 145/85 whoohooo. Down from 195/105 originally.
HBA1c is 48 down from 74 double wohoo.

Cholesterol is still high but coming down 5.9 from 6.5. No tablets yet but need further improvement!
LDL lower , HDL higher.

Feet checked they are ok and appointment made for retina scan made.
Some disagreement on the carb thing so agreed to lower cab intake and choose carbs with low GI rather than cut them out altogether.

Recommended red wine in moderation over beer.
Triglyceride count came down too significantly.


So all in all I'm a very happy relieved bunny.
