HbA1c still stable three months on

My latest HbA1c (14th October) has just come back as 42, same as it was three months ago. It's now 21 months since I was diagnosed T2D with value 74. Over that period I had some slightly lower values (lowest was 39), probably the result of doing a good deal of strenuous physical work. During the past 17 months I have kept strictly to 135g daily carbs. I am thinking of reducing this to 115g over the next three months, keeping all else unaltered, until the next test, to see whether this might pull the HbA1c down one point or so. I could drop the carbs much more severely of course, but I am not sure that at my age (75) I would reap much long-term benefit from that. Will see how things go ...
