Great that you are keeping heart healthy and keeping up muscle mass with running etc. You've had the discipline to stick at that and probably at other things in your life too. Sounds like you realise that exercise and meds alone won't keep your weight and diabetes at bay and want to get started on a food plan. The food will make a buge difference so this makes sense; if you are insulin resistant then your body isn't dealing well with starchy carbohydates and sugars sot hat's the place to start. This means enoughJust been for my diabetic review and my Hba1c has gone from 49 to 65 can't point the raise to anything in particular, food intake not changed. Was on Victoza 1.8 dose to suppress appetite hasn't done that diabetic nurse has decided to pull me off that, which I can't disagree with, however she has added in 100mg stigliptin which means I'm now on 1000mg metformin, 40mg astrostavin and 100mg stigliptin. Current weight is 20st height 6'6" I run 10k 3 times a week so exercise isn't a problem. I know the need to go on a lifestyle food change (diet) but am a simple man and get confused with all the different options and information, is there a simple easy to follow low carb diet plan. Pushing 50 yrs old and want to be here to see my daughter continue to grow up and become a beautiful young woman.

Our surgery is like that. It's the devil of a job to get results out of them and I've taken to fetching a notebook with me with the questions laid out beforehand, otherwise I get met with 'oh I don't know how to get them onto the printer' or some other waffle. I don't think they like to have their mystique penetrated. Frankly it takes a thick skin to get any info off them.
